You need to increase your heart rate and maintain the elevated heart rate for at least 20 minutes. And if you can keep your heart rate up for 30 or 40 minutes, you will get even better results. Or to add variety, cardio kickboxing, step aerobics, low impact aerobics, or cardio dance are all great ways to lose weight using exercise videos.
Remember, consistency is more important than intensity. And while losing weight may be your primary reason for exercising, remember all the health benefits to exercise. You will have more energy, reduced stress and lowered blood pressure – just to name a few. So grab a home exercise video, turn on your DVD player and press play!
